You probably know by now that chocolate cupcakes aren’t my all-time favorites. I’ve written several times about my go-to flavors being fruity or herby, like my strawberry rosemary cupcakes. But I also know that I’m in the minority when it comes to chocolate. Chocolate is EVERYONE’S best friend at some point or another, right? And I’m not stupid, either. I want you coming back to my site and checking out my recipes! So I decided to develop a recipe for all the chocolate lovers. This is, I think, chocolate excess in cupcake form. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present dark chocolate cupcakes with filling.
These cupcakes start with a lighter chocolate cupcake recipe than some of my others on this site. That’s mostly because I wanted to make space for the amount of chocolate I’m packing into this recipe. The dark chocolate flavor is fully present, but it isn’t too dense so it can hold up to the rest of the chocolate components. Think dark chocolate ganache filling, extra ganache smeared on top, and chocolate chips to finish. If you’ve ever wanted the richest chocolate cupcakes ever, this one is for you. And who doesn’t like chocolate cupcakes with filling?!
Danger: Chocolate Ahead!
My advice would be to eat these while standing very close to a tall glass of milk. And a bathroom close by wouldn’t be a bad idea either, just in case you eat more than one and lose all bodily control. The richness of these cupcakes really can’t be overstated. Don’t say you weren’t warned. Make them for your friends, but put out a hazard sign or something, as a public service announcement. “WARNING: these dark chocolate cupcakes with filling may cause chocolate comas. Proceed at your own risk!”
